Collection consists of papers and maps pertaining to land grants in New Mexico and Colorado, 1856-1870. Some of the land grants included are the Maxwell Land Grant, the Mora Land Grant, and the Preston Beck Land Grant. Also included is a map of the principal land grants in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.

William Blackmore was a British entrepreneur who promoted British and Dutch investment in Southwestern land. He began his career as a representative of English mining interests in New Mexico after the Civil War. He developed investment ventures in Colorado and New Mexico.
